Reaching Out

1st Responders: Once a month, on the 2nd Sunday, we hold a “Noisy Offering for 1st Responders”. The change collected is then used to purchase care baskets for area police/fire departments. These baskets are delivered to them every month or two to show our appreciation for all they do to serve and protect.

Blessings Box:  TUMC has a Blessings Box located outside of the Sanctuary on East Jefferson St.  The congregation keeps the box stocked with canned goods, granola bars, seasonal vegetables, baby items, and personal hygiene items.  During the cold months, gloves, hats and socks are added to it from our Giving Tree.  All are welcome to “give to” and “receive from” the Blessings Box.

Care and Share: Trinity strives to help respond to hunger in our community in an effort that began more than 45 years ago with a “pantry food shelf” stocked by the congregation. This original pantry has grown into the Care and Share of Erie County network and has become Trinity’s largest outreach program. Currently, TUMC is responsible for staffing the pantry at Care and Share on four of their seven open shifts. Members also donate canned goods, soap, bags, egg cartons, clothing, household goods and financial support for this vital mission.

Cookies for the Juvenile Detention Center. Every Christmas and Easter Trinity provides cookies and scripture to the children incarcerated at the JDH to help them feel less alone and let them know that they are being supported, prayed for and cared about as they struggle to turn their lives around.

Crock Pot Fellowship: Join Us as we prepare 2 meals to freeze for another day, share fellowship around a prepared meal, and send a crockpot and cookbook home with first time participants. Last Monday of each month at 6pm. Participation is limited. Call to reserve your spot no later than the Friday before by noon.

Crossroads: Information Soon!

Stephen Ministries: Trinity has been a Stephen Ministry Congregation since 2010, with 13 currently active Stephen Ministers. Stephen Ministers are laypeople trained to provide one-to-one Christ-centered care to hurting people. They are compassionate hearts equipped with the skills to listen, encourage and offer support when someone is in need. If you, or someone you know, are struggling with crises such as divorce, cancer, grief, job loss, loneliness, please contact our Stephen Leader, Sue Mitchell, and she will be happy to match you with a Stephen Minister.
